Europe wide model of success
Europe-wide model of success – uniform European standard
The Austrian model of the Entrepreneur’s Skills Certificate® is recognised by the EU as a best-practice example and has in the meantime become an export hit. German school students have had the opportunity to train their entrepreneurial skills since 2007. That the Entrepreneur’s Skills Certificate® continues to have great potential is shown not just by its success in Austria and Germany. The Entrepreneur’s Skills Certificate® project has also been initiated in Albania, France, the Czech Republic, Luxembourg and Kosovo. A preliminary agreement has been signed with the Polish city of Warsaw. Using the Austrian model as a basis, the possibility exists of adapting the Entrepreneur’s Skills Certificate® for every country in Europe.
In November 2005, the European Commission framed “entrepreneurial skills” as one of eight key skills for lifelong learning (LLL). In practical terms that means “the ability to put ideas into practice”. At the same time as defining these key skills, the European Commission also called on its member states to communicate these skills to their school students in the course of their school education. Sound business knowledge and social and entrepreneurial skills have thus become an indispensable component of a comprehensive general education in recent years. The Entrepreneur’s Skills Certificate® was a response to this requirement: it goes back to an initiative of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber as part of the EU strategy for “Entrepreneurship Education”. With its development of the Entrepreneur’s Skills Certificate®, the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber has its finger on the pulse of the time.
